79: Supernovae

Ya Allah, dah lama tak rasa seronok bila dengar lecture. I love astrophysics! 

I love when it makes sense. I loooove when I can relate. Sudah lama tak berperasaan macam ni dengan Physics. Selama ni sangat menensenkan.

Semalam baca tafsir surah At-Takwir, gambaran hari kiamat.. apabila matahari digulung, bintang-bintang berjatuhan, gunung-gunung dihancurkan.. sungguh menakutkan kalau kita bayangkan kejadian tu berlaku kan? But when we read through ayat-ayat tu, sometimes you just couldn't help but rasa macam baca fiction. 

Tapi kan, kehancuran itu adalah satu yang pasti. Our sun is burning sekarang kan? But the burning source will definitely be exhausted one day. Bila dah habis tu, our sun will collapse in around 1 second! bayangkan la.. matahari yg beso tu akan collapse dlm masa 1 sec! Sangat laju dan mengejutkan.. then supernova berlaku.. letupan yang besar dan kuat.. expaaaaand... kaboooom!!...  terang yg sangat-sangat terang, dengan magnitude luminosity menyamai billions of normal stars. Sangat2 terang ok! Then collapse balik... then jadik white dwarf.

Dalam lecture hall tadi, my brain became so imaginative.. hanya kedengaran bunyi2 sound effect yang exeggerative (in my mind la) sbb nak mengambarkan description ttg death of stars yang lecturer terangkan. Rasa macam tengok movie dalam kepala sendiri.

Kehancuran itu suatu yang pasti. People want to live forever, but orang-orang berilmu tahu itu tak mungkin berlaku.

78: Bliss

Orang kata ignorance is bliss. When you're in the middle of a conflict, you tend to agree. Oh, howmuch more blissful it will be if we didn't know!

But that's one ignorant comment!

If Allah brings you to it, you are expected to be able to handle it, gain experience and lessons from it! Be stronger and stronger.

74: Odd Times

Random things can make me cry at odd times. (And I cry so rarely, really!).One such incidents happened this morning while I was on the train on my way back to Melbourne city from Oakleigh. I cried when I saw this ads:





It's not so much because of what the campaign is about.

It's more about me... and all of us. The things we're dealing with now.

If you understand, then you understand...

73: I have a baby brother

72: Physics, there you go

Our Quantum Mechanics lecturer wears the same shirt and pants for 3 consecutive days. (We think he lives in his office, literally). Our Statistical Physics lecturer wears the same shirt for 2 consecutive days. Good thing tomorrow's classes are cancelled. I cannot make the measurement. The only information that we have about anything is our measurement. And only that! And when we measure something, it's impossible that we do not change the state of the object being measured. The expectation probability of them wearing the same shirt tomorrow is...?

(Since the sun's peak frequency from blackbody radiation is at ~500nm..)

She disappointed me. When she said 'it is no accident'.. I was hopeful she'll say something like the power of God or something related. But then.. "I believe it is evolution". So disappointing and mengesiankan.

71: Back to School

New and old (from last year) textbooks used in this semester

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh :)

I was running late for my first class of the year (what?). Bumped into 2 persons that I haven't seen for long, excited (tersilap teka nama sorang since she didn't wear her glasses today, I had a hard time recalling), bertanya khabar (sorang dah kelihatan sangat kurus), tapi tak dapat lama-lama bertukar cerita since semua pun rushing.

As expected, I was late. Tercungap-cungap from jalan yang cepat amat before, cari tempat duduk. The lecture hall was quite full. Duduk 2nd row from the front.

Oh, I'm in classes again. My final year! (InsyaAllah).

My subjects for this semester:

• Astrophysics & Optics III
• Quantum Mechanics
• Statistical Physics
• Laboratory Works

4 physics subjects! All the subjects and experiments look so tough. But we expected things to be harder and harder kan. Fitrahnya begitu kan. Progress. We need progresses. (Tapi of course, sangat nervous juga memikirkan subjects last year pun diri ini terkial-kial).

Macam biasa, awal-awal semester banyak azam baru. One thing, mahu lebih mesra dan cari ramai kenalan baru, lebih yakin dalam berspeaking etc2. (Ye, saya tak fasih speaking. Concious terlebih!). Lagi-lagi tahun ni ada 2 subjects yang ada presentation/talk.

Jumpa Esther and Carmen again. And met a new (and mesra) exchange student from Manchester University named Kay. Yang lain-lain, dalam kelas tu semua muka-muka lama. Since first year kelas ngan orang yang sama. Cuma makin lama makin sikit ahli kelasnya.

2 same lecturers. 2 new lecturers.

Nerdy physicists all around.
I know, what a hasty generalization!
